    Notes 
    • He was prominent in Falmouth; town treasurer; many times selectman and representative, holding the latter office through the Revolution. Served as a Captain, Commissary and Sea Coast Officer.

      His son Jacob was appointed administrator [Eastern Herald of Dec. 17, 1795]. Joseph's heirs deeded two-eighths of his father's homestead [Cumberland deeds 40:124], which is now owned (1948) and occupied, through inheritance from the Deerings, by another Noyes, a descendant of this Joseph and of the Deerings.
