1708 Haverhill Massacre monument
Enclosed
in this tomb is the
body of a man pious
learned and revered
Benjamin Rolfe,
a most faithful pastor
of the Church of Christ
in Haverhill who was
barbarously slain by
the Indians at his
own house.
He retired from his
labors on the morning
of the Sabbath, the 29th
of Aug. in the year of
our Lord 1708, and of
his age the 46th.
