South Parish Byfield Burying Ground, Newbury, Essex, Massachusetts, USA
Notes: The oldest part of the South Byfield Parish Cemetery is in Newbury on the north side of Elm Street at the Georgetown border. Also referred to as the Old Burial Ground, it is bounded by a dry laid stone wall. Within the cemetery are stones of marble and slate and a couple of obelisks. There is a substantial tree cover throughout the burial ground. A newer section is across the street. The inactive part of the cemetery is not well maintained. The meetinghouse at this location generally was referred to as Byfield Parish . The historic meetinghouse, adjacent to this older part of the burying ground, was converted to a residence and a new church building was constructed over the line in Georgetown.
