    Notes
    • First child of Dudley, born in Hebron, March 10, 1734. He was four years and sixteen days old when his father, Dudley moved into his log cabin on Pike Hill.

He was a soldier in 1812 and was a Sergeant in Capt. Bodwell's Company. He was named for his uncle John, who settled on Pike Hill, a few years after and northeasterly of his father.

The Timothy Jordan who died some ten years ago (ca. 1880) at Steep Falls, well down on the left of the road, was a brother to his wife.

John Pike purchased a farm of the proprietor on Rust Gore in the south west corner of the town. To reach his farm in those days he went through the southerly Millett neighborhood, down the great Millett hill, past Lombard's mill and so on straight up the rise to the southerly side of Frost Hill. There, at the end of the road, on a fine ridge of land sloping gently to the south, he lived and died, and his fifth child, Esther Jordan, who married our much respected townsman, Silas E. Hall, represents him today at his old homestead.

The house that John Pike first built on his farm and into which he moved his wife, while the whole country nearly was yet a wilderness, was the first framed house built in that school district. It was of one story with the front door in the center opening into a small entryway, with square rooms at the right and left, while right back of the entryway was the large chimney. The house also had a small addition or ell in the back
