    Notes
    • The identity of Mary Jewett has been made through a process of eliminating possible Mary Jewett candidates born 1770-1774 and has not been fully verified.

"Royal River Families" lists her name as Polly Jewell.

      Facts bearing on the situation:

Mary Jewett is first associated with Moses Noyes when marriage intentions of Moses Noyes, Jr. and Mary Jewett of Portland were filed July 4, 1796 in Portland. These same intentions were again filed Jul 7, 1796 in North Yarmouth.

Mr. Moses Noise Jr. was married in Portland to Miss Mary Jewett, 2nd Parish Portland, August 27, 1796. Mary is shown as Miss in the marriage record, indicating this was her first marriage. Mary is not listed as a member or having been baptized in the original 2nd Parish Church of Portland records.

In the 1800 North Yarmouth census, Mary is probably one of the two free white females, aged 16 to 26, residing in the home of Moses Noyes, Jr.

After her husband Moses died in 1810, Mary is enumerated as a free white female, head of household, aged 26 to 44 in the 1810 North Yarmouth census.

1810 will of her father, Amos Jewett, names his wife (Anna (Noyes), sons Samuel & Benjamin and three daughters, Mary Noyes, Lydia Huse and Sally Richards.

May 9, 1812 marriage intentions are filed between Samual Evalath and Mrs. Mary Noyes, both of North Yarmouth. Mary (Jewett) Noyes is the only Mrs. Mary Noyes residing in North Yarmouth at that time.

May 30, 1812 Samuel Eveleth and Mary Noyes are married in North Yarmouth.

Samuel and Mary Eveleth apparently move to Guilford, Maine where Samuel dies June 15, 1817.

William Farnham of Sangerville and widow Mary Eveleth of Guilford were married February 12, 1818 in Guilford after the death of William Farnham's first wife, Hannah (Varnum), November 4, 1815.

Mary is enumerated in the home of William Farnham in the 1820 census of Sangerville as a free white female.

Mary is enumerated in the August 2, 1850 census of Sangerville as Mary Farnham, age 76, living with third husband, William Farnham, in the home of their son, Oliver and his family.

Mary Farnham, age 89, is found in the 1860 census of Sangerville in the home of Joseph Littlefield.

1850 and 1860 census data indicates Mary was born circa 1770-1775.
