- (OBIT: SIDNE Y — Four persons
were injured, one critically, in
an auto- tractor-tracer collision
on Route 7 near Sidney shortly
before 6 pm. Saturday.
The four occupants of the
car are all members of the
same family, were taken to the
hospital in Sidney.
According to the hospital, in
critical condition late Sunday
was Susan Mowers, 18, of
Lincklaen Road, DeRuyter, with
internal injuries and scalp cuts.
In fair condition were Marjorie
Mowers, 15, and Vernetta
Mowers, 43. Marjorie suffered
knee cuts and Vernetta, scalp
cuts.
The driver of the car. Aaron
Mowers, 21, was treated for
head cuts at the hospital and
was discharged.
State police at the Sidney
substation said several cars
were lined up on Route 7 waiting
to turn onto Kipps Hill
Road, which intersects Route 7,
when a tractor-trailer, owned
by the Dfetri Moving and Storage
Co. of Albany, came up behind
the eastbound fine.
police said the driver, Ciyde
Murray, 27 of Watervefiet, applie
d the brakes, but they
failed. To avoid has hitting the
line of cars, Murray swerved
into the westbound lane and the
truck struck the Mowers' car
"nearly head-on" police said.
Murray, who was not injured
in the accident, was issued a
summons on a charge of failure
to keep right, police said. Susan
and Aaron had been married for a week (Nov. 22.)
She died from her injuries.)
