Kathryn Durrence Baxter, 82, died Friday, September 26, 2008, at her residence after a long illness. The Tattnall County native had lived in Tattnall and Long counties all her life. She was a wonderful homemaker, loving mother and grandmother, and a member of Ella Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Hillis G. Baxter of Ludowici; daughter Kay Lagasse (Larry) of Ludowici; sons, Geral Baxter (Reba) and Revis Baxter (Betty), all of Ludowici; sister, Joyce Todd of Claxton; grandchildren, Brittney and Clint Baxter; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 28, at the Chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dempsy Golden officiating. Burial was in Rye Patch Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mike Swindell, Edward Rich, Larry Weathers, Reggie Todd, James Smith, and David Golden.
