    • (OBIT: J. Everett Noyes of County Road, North Falmouth died Wednesday morning at his home. He was 70. Death was due to heart disease, according to Dr. Edwin P. Tripp, associate medical examiner.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Minnie Baker Noyes; a son, Roger F. Noyes; a brother, Clarence H. Noyes of Waquoit; a sister, Mrs. John E. Overy; a granddaughter, Mrs. Henry Hall; and a great-granddaughter, Linda Hall.

His career in North Falmouth spanned the change from horse-drawn barges serving schools and scattered summer colonies to the present. He was a major factor in transportation in his section of town through both eras.

As a youngster Mr. Noyes worked with his father, George E. Noyes, who built Noyes stable, Megansett in 1891. The family moved then from Monument Beach, where Mr. Noyes was born, to North Falmouth. In 1907 he bought his father's stable and livery business, and two years later added a garage. In that year he began transporting children to and from school, and has continued as transportation contractor since that time.

The truck Mr. Noyes bought in 1910 was the first to come to his section. It was needed to handle the luggage of summer residents and hotel guests. In 1914 he introduced the first motor transportation used by Falmouth school children when he purchased a 12-passenger automobile stage, a White motor bus which became known as the "Yellow White." It cost Mr. Noyes $2,500. In 1916 and 1917 the White was used to carry workmen to the Keith Car works at Sagamore daily.

About that time Mr. Noyes enlarged his business by doing away with the stables, which at one time housed 60 horses. Later he added a real estate and insurance business.

Mr. Noyes was long active in town affairs. He had been a deputy forest warden and a fire engineer. He took a major part in development of Francis A. Nye park and the ballfield at North Falmouth, as a member of the park board. He was elected a town meeting member in 1950 and reelected in 1953. In recent years, retired from active business, he has often taken the train from North Falmouth to Falmouth to spend the day conversing with friends along Main street.

Mr. Noyes joined the Knights of Pythias of Bourne when he was 21, and was Chancellor Commander in 1910. He was a member of the Elks club of Middleboro and the Sucannessett cl;ub, Rod and Gun club, North Falmouth Congregational church, and a former member of Megansett Grange and the several North Falmouth community groups.

The funeral is 2 P.M. today, from the North Falmouth church.

Albert E. Landers, Major Bernard C. O'Connor, George F. Ballentine Jr., Roland Scannell, Freeman Robbins and Thomas Haslam of Cataumet will be bearers at the funeral this afternoon. The Rev. Lawrence D. Hinckley and Kenneth Anderson will conduct the service.
