- (OBIT: Mrs. Nellie G. Patterson, 88, of Presque Isle died January 23, 1970 after a brief illness in a local hospital. She was born July 20, 1881 in Blaine, daughter of Evard and Nancy Wade Tompkins. She had been a resident of Presque Isle for many years. For the past several years, she had made her home in Mars Hill and was a member of the Full Gospel Assembly of Mars Hill. Surviving are her seven sons, Ralph Patterson of Guilford, Frank Patterson of Oakland, Evard Patterson of Farmington, NH, Cecil Patterson of Hallowell, Theodore Patterson of Caribou, Norman Patterson of Lewiston, and Alfred Patterson of Presque Isle; four daughters, Mrs. Amy Duncan of Portland, Mrs. Evelyn Hallowell of Perham, Mrs. Alice Brooks of Hollis Center, and Mrs. Nina Kaye of Pasadena, Calif.; one brother, Almon Tompkins of Houlton; one sister, Mrs. Laura Craig of Mars Hill; 25 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and one great great grandaughter. She was predeceased by her son, Charles E. Patterson in 1940. Funeral services were held January 25 at the Graves Funeral Home with the Rev. F.Harold Bickford of Old Orchard Beach officiating assisted by the Rev. James Mugford, Pastor of the Full Gospel Assembly, Mars Hill. Interment will be in the spring in East Blaine Cemetery in Blaine.)
