- (Obit: MANCHESTER, CT - Alice C. Noyes, 87, of Manchester, CT, cherished wife for 67 years of Edward D. Noyes, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, CT. She was predeceased by her husband, December 6, 2005. Born in Ludlow, MA on April 10, 1918, daughter of the late Andrew Carney and Alice Frappier. Also predeceased by her two sisters, Mae and Bea and brother, Andy. Alice retired, in 1981, from the Account Reconcilement Dept of CBT. She was a member of the Connecticut Valley Girl Scout Council in which she was a troop leader in East Hartford for many years. She also participated in an "Emergency On-Call Program" as a blood donor for premature babies affiliated with St Francis Hospital. She was a faithful communicant of St. James Church in Manchester. Her favorite pastimes were tending her flower gardens, visiting with her family and friends at "The Lot" in Becket, MA and spoiling her faithful companion Tigger. One of her greatest accomplishments was surviving the trials and tribulations of successfully raising six children. Alice is survived by six children; Arthur Noyes and wife Anne of Atlantic, NC, Sally Benoit and husband Paul of East Hartford, CT, Mary Noyes-Huffman and husband Richard, of Little River, SC, Susan Stevens and husband Lee of South Windsor, CT, Jean Daugherty of Braintree, MA and Diane Nickerson of Wethersfield, CT. She is also survived by eight grand children Betsy (Benoit) Dempsey and husband Michael, Christopher Noyes, Lisa (Noyes) Landry and husband Bill, Kristin (Noyes) Ouellette and husband Craig, Kellie Stevens, Erica Nickerson, Adam Huffman and Eric Huffman, and five great-grandsons; Jack, Tyler, Liam, Adin and Shea. Alice will be fondly remembered by her extended family and numerous close friends. One of her greatest joys was sitting in a rocking chair with a baby in her arms. Her family will be forever grateful for the watchful eyes of her guardian angels of Marcus, Maria, Deven, Maricel and Mya Foley. Special thanks to Dr. Rahman, Gloria, and all the nurses at the Cancer Center, as well as the nurses on "8-1" who treated her with compassion and dignity during her final hours. Calling hours will be Thursday, December 22, 2005 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester, CT. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2005 at St. James Church, 896 Main St, Manchester, CT. Burial services will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Burnside Ave, East Hartford, CT. Donations can be made, in her honor, to the St. Francis/Mt. Sinai Regional Cancer Center or to the charity of donor's choice.
