- (OBIT: NEWBURYPORT -- Viola J. Noyes, 82, died Wednesday at Anna Jaques Hospital.
She was a nursing supervisor at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and Anna Jaques Hospital.
Born in Newburyport, she graduated from Newburyport High School and received her nursing degree from the Beverly Hospital School of Nursing.
Miss Noyes served as a second lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion, First Parish Church of Newbury, the church's choir and the Women's Fellowship.
She leaves sister Janet A. Noyes of Newbury; niece Linda Crowley of Slingerlands, N.Y.; nephew James A. Noyes of West Springfield; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Memorials may be made to the First Parish Church of Newbury, High Road, Newbury, MA 01951.
