- (OBIT: OAKLAND - Arthur R. Noyes, 96, formerly of Newport, died Monday, March 24, 2014, at Lakewood Continuing Care Center in Waterville. He was born in Hancock, Mass., on Feb. 1, 1918, the son of Rondal and Grace (Hillman) Noyes. Arthur graduated from Williams High School, class of 1937.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Arthur worked most of his life as a millwright carpenter for the Carpenters Local Union. As a member of the Waterville Country Club, he loved golf. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are a daughter, Judith Ann Teague, of Oakland, a son, Rondal Noyes, of New Hampshire, four grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive in Augusta. (Morning Sentinel 3/26/2014)
