He was born in Orono 3-3-1922 the son of Russell and Maud (Jewett) Getchell Sr. He was married 6-15-1946 to Ruth (Norris) Getchell. He was a graduate of Caribou High School. He had been employed by American Kitchen Foods and Potato Service Inc., as a lead mechanic and supervisor. He served in the US Army during WWII. Surviving besides his wife of Caribou, are 2 sons, Russell III of Caribou and David of Perth-Andover, NB., Canada, 2 daughters, Mrs. Russell (Mary) Gagnon and Mrs. Leonard (Cathie) Grover, both of Caribou, his father of Presque Isle, 2 brothers, Howard of Carlisle, PA., and Robert of Milo, 5 sisters, Mrs. Alice Black of South Windham, Mrs. Fred (Joyce) White of Wallingford, CT., Mrs. Alton (Dorothy) Gustin and Mrs. Philip (Gustie) Pelkey, both of Presque Isle, Mrs. Charles (Louella) Snow of Hampden, 5 grandchildren. Burial Evergreen cemetery.)
