    • A native of Bangor, Judy graduated from John Bapst High School in 1950, where she was an active member of her class. Her fond memories of Bapst included her participation in theater and cheerleading as well as the many enduring friendships that she established and enjoyed throughout the years. Judy graduated the University of Maine in 1954, where she received a BA in education. She went on to earn her masters in education at the University. She was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority and took part in many aspects of University life. Judy met her husband of 44 years, Roger, while attending the University. They were later married in Germany wheren they lived for several fondly-remembered years. In the early years of their marriage, she enjoyed her many travels abroad with her husband. Judy continued to take pleasure in learning new things throughout her life. Friends and family will remember her as an avid debater. Throughout the years, she made her home a warm and welcoming place for her children and her animal companions. Her animals were a very important part of her life. She had a special fondness for all abandoned animals and she made a loving home for the many strays that landed on her doorstep.

Along with her husband, Roger, she is survived by her son, John Atwater of Brooks; her daughters, Andrea Atwater of Bangor, Rebecca Pratt and her husband, Joseph and their twin daughters, Megan and Chelsea of Bangor, Lauri Atwater and her husband, Jim Shaw and their son, Devin of Lexington, Mass.
