- (Be it remembered that I, Reuben B. Chase Sr., of Limestone in the County of Aroostook and in the State of Maine, being of lawful age and being of sound and disposing mind and memory, but mindful of the uncertainty of this life, do make publish and declare this my LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT, hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
After the payment of my just debts, funeral charges and expenses of administration, I dispose of my estate as follows, to wit:
First: I direct that my executor, herein named pay all my just debts, funeral charges and expenses of administration as soon as may be after my decease.
Second: I give and bequeath to my beloved son, Harry A. Chase, the sum of five (5) dollars.
Third: I give and bequeath to my beloved son Clyde Chase the sum of five (5) dollars.
Fourth: I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Edith M. Elgee the sum of three hundred dollars ($300).
Fifth: I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Leila Patten, wife of George C. Patten, the sum of five (5) dollars.
Sixth: I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Jennie Chase the sum of five (5) dollars, also a home as is generally meant by the term, as long as she remains unmarried, said home to be furnished at the home of her mother but not elsewhere.
Seventh: I give, bequeath and devise to my beloved son George C. Chase a one-half (1/2) interest in common and undivided in and to my homestead farm in the town of Limestone aforesaid provided he shall pay one-half of the debt secured by mortgage on said homestead farm.
Eighth: I give, bequeath and devise to my beloved wife Johanna Chase a one-half (1/2) interest in common and undivided in and to my said homestead farm provided however she shall pay one-half of the debt secured by mortgage on said homestead farm.
Ninth: I name as sole executor of this my last will and testament my friend Louis A. Cyr of Limestone.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal and declare this to be my last will and testament this twenty fourth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and ten.

- Educated in the common schools and followed the trade of ship carpenter in Freeport and Yarmouth, Maine. He married first Betsey Ellen Paine (6-55) born Nov 1831 in Freeport, Maine. She died in Limestone, Maine. She was an active member of the Congregtional church. He married second Maggie A. Phair, who died in Limestone 1881.
In 1862 Reuben and Betsey moved to Limestone, Maine where he was an early pioneer. He cleared a farm there, and owned one hundred and sixty acres. In politics he was a prohibitionist. He was a selectman of Limestone for many years, and superintendent of schools. In religion he was a Congregationalist. He served in the Twentieth Regiment Maine Volunteer Infantry from 1864 to the end of the war.
From the Veterans Schedule: He served 9 mo. 3 days in the Army between 13 Oct 1864 and 16 July 1865. He was a Private, Company G. He was discharged because of rheumatism,
diarrhea and [unreadable]. His application for pension was filed on 21 May 1880, #365,054 and Certificate #268,440. [Elaine R. Chase]
