Obit - Caribou - Ruth M. Noyes, 87, wife of the late Clayton P. Noyes, passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, at a Caribou hospital. She was born Aug. 22, 1921, in Caribou, the fourth daughter of Clyde S. and Blanche (Pike) Morgan.
She was educated in Caribou schools, graduated in 1938 and attended Maine School of Commerce, Husson College, Bangor, 1938-1939. Ruth and Clayton were married Dec. 4, 1941, and were on their honeymoon at Cobbs Logde, Bangor, when Pearl Harbor was attacked. Ruth worked for Mr. A.A. Garden Law Offices during the war, while Clayton was serving in the Pacific Theater from 1942 until 1946. Two sons and a daughter were born after Clayton came back home and resumed farming. Together they raised their family on the Grimes Road, Caribou. Ruth started her next career for the City of Caribou in 1966 and continued as city treasurer until her retirement in 1986. Ruth was a member of United Baptist Church of Caribou and also attended Gray Memorial Methodist Church, Caribou.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Clayton; her four sisters, Regna Todd, Arlene Hemingway, Dorothy Barnes and Marjorie Wyman; brothers-in-law, Vaughn Todd, Bob Hemingway, Raymond Barnes and also [Clayton's brother] Preston and his wife, Lila Noyes; [their sister, Marjorie (Noyes) Sewell]; and great-grandson, Jameson Nardello. Mrs. Noyes is survived by sons Paul and his wife, Betty Noyes; Kimber and wife, Cindy Noyes; daughter, Brenda, and husband, Ronald Curtis; grandchildren, Tristan and Jonathan Noyes; Christopher and wife, Tina Noyes; and Shari and husband, Jimmy Nardello; great-grandchildren, Reid and Cameryn Nardello and Owen Noyes; brother[s]-in-law, Rex Wyman [and Bill Sewell]; several neices and nephews; and special caregivers, Duska Franklin, Susan Skidgel and Lynn Sewell. A special thank you to caregivers and friends, Anna, Wanda, Dorothy, Linda, Connie and so many others. Mrs. Noyes was able to live at home because of all of you. She spent her last three weeks at the Maine Veterans' Home, Caribou, and received exceptional care.
Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, [Rev. John Kiehl, Caribou United Baptist Church and Rev. Anna Beach, Caribou Gray Memorial Methodist Church, officiating.] Spring interment will take place at Advent Cemetery, Limestone.
