  Notes	He lived in Portland and Yarmouth, Maine. When he lived in Portland he was a house carpenter, but most of his life, or the last half, he lived on a farm in Yarmouth. This farm, 100 acres, lot number 22, range A, was in the part of the town that was incorporated as Freeport in 1789, and about two miles east of Yarmouth village on the State road to Freeport village. He went, with others, in pursuit of the Indians at the time the Mitchell boys were stolen in 1751. His war record is: "Benjamin Welch of North Yarmouth served in Capt. John Berry's company of Rangers in the first French and Indian War from May 11, 1747 to Jan. 18, 1748. [Mass, Archives vol. 92, p.73]. The land that his father gave to him in Kingston he sold before he came to Maine.
