- (1980 obituary: Arthur S. "Buddy" Noyes, 62, of 31 Devon St. died Sunday evening in a local hospital. He was born in Portland, son of George and Charlotte MacDougall Noyes, and attended Portland schools. Mr. Noyes was a Marine veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He served with the Portland Fire Department for 27 years, retiring in 1974. Most recently, he was employed by Commercial Distributors. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of several Masonic organizations. Besides his wife, Barbara Frank Noyes, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. John (Leslie) Cahill of Portland; five sisters, Mrs. Christine Thurlow of South Portland, Mrs. Charlotte King of Spencer, Mass., and Mrs. Shirley, Mrs. Margaret Granville and Mrs. Ninette Railey, all of Tucson, Ariz.; and a brother, Malcolm of Westbrook. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at 749 Congress St., with Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, Falmouth.)
