  Notes	His early education was from Rev. Belden, of Warren. He studied medicine with Dr. Stockbridge of Bath, Maine and Dr. Shattuck of Boston, Mass. He was a graduate of the Boston Medical School. He first practised medicine in Boothbay, Maine but settled in Freeport in 1826. He was Professor of Obstetrics in Bowdoin College five years.
