- He was born in Belfast Antrim Northern Ireland this per his Maine Civil War registration card, he was 6'2" tall, immigrated and lived in Attleboro MA. He was a currier and married Sarah Ann Noyes (often spelled Mois) on Oct 18 1846 in Attleboro MA. His sons were Charles Henry and John William both born in Attleboro. They moved to Augusta ME in roughly 1860. He enlisted in the Civil war Maine 3rd infantry Company B on April 6 1861 in Augusta Me. Was wounded Dec 13th 1862 in the abdomen during the Battle of Fredricksburg on Marye's Heights. He died Dec. 23rd 1862 in Alexandria Hospital. His headstone reads Welsh ... this is a common spelling error the name is actually Welch.
