  Notes	Although written histories of the 1708 Haverhill massacre say that Thomas Hartshorne and three of his sons died in the massacre, evidence in the Haverhill vital records and gravestone inscriptions seem to instead support that it was his nephew John Hartstone, Jr. and three of his sons. The only Thomas Hartshorn[e] that would have been old enough to have three sons was Thomas, son of Thomas and Susannah (Buck) Hartshorn, born at Reading, 30 Oct 1648 and died there ("son of Thomas and Susanna"), 24 May 1713. Thomas married Sarah (Swan) at Haverhill, 21 Oct 1674 and was living there at the time of the massacre, however, evidence does not show he died there.
