    DIED
    May 26, 1883
    aged 73 yrs.

    Notes
    • His parentage has not been reported.

He joined the Methodist Church in 1843 and became a Perfectionist through studying the Bible, hearing D.H. Warren, and the writings of John H. Noyes. He never married nor had children. At about age 30 he developed "St. Vitas Dance," but it did not interfere with his work as a saddler, farmer, gardener, and washerman. He was a large man over six feet tall. For a seven month period in 1880 he left the Community but returned on a year's probation. He introduced George Cragin to the name local residents had given the settlement, "The Indian Sawmill."
