- She was the only child of Erastus and Susan C. Hamilton and entered the Community when she was two years old on April 24, 1848, with the family.
Growing up in the Community, Augusta had two Community children, the first with George Washington Noyes and the second with Daniel A. Abbott.
She worked as a teacher at Wallingford in 1867 and later as a compositor at Oneida. In 1878 she seceded, a day after Arthur Towner and they were married in DeRuyter, New York. They rejoined the Community as a married couple a month after the termination of complex marriage. Towner adopted her two Community children and they had two children of their own.
They left Kenwood in 1881 and moved to Santa Ana, near her father-in-law, Judge Towner. She died in New York City, where her son Rutherford worked, and was buried in the Community Cemetary at Kenwood.
