Notes |
- Place name meaning, two caves. Prominent town in Moab upon which Isaiah (Isa 15:5) and Jeremiah (Jer 48:3, 5, 34) pronounced laments, warning of coming destruction. It apparently lay in the southwestern part of Moab, but students of biblical geography debate its exact location. Suggestions include khirbet ad-Dubababout three miles west northwest of Majra; khirbet al-Maydan, west of modern Katrabba, and ed-Dayr, about two miles northwest of Rakin.
