    • TITCOMB, JONATHAN, soldier, congressman, was born in 1728 in Newbury, MA. He was a member of the committee of safety, and of the provincial congress in 1774 and 1775. He was a brigadier-general of militia; and was naval officer of Newburyport from 1789 to 1812. He was also "Member of the Provincial Congress of Massachusetts, 1774; Colonel of a Massachusetts Regiment in the Rhode Island expedition, 1778; Member of the State Convention of Massachusetts in 1780; and Brigadier-General of Militia". Jonathan Titcomb was a general during the Revolutionary War. He escorted President George Washington through Marblehead on his visit to the area in 1789. Gen. Titcomb died in 1817 in Newbury, MA."
