    Notes
    • He was a Revolutionary War soldier, and marched to Quebec in 1775 in the Benedict Arnold expedition as a fifer in Ezra Lunt's Company. On the return trip he traveled partly by boat and partly on foot by way of Lake Champlain, Crown Point, and Fort #4 at Charlestown, ND. He kept a diary during this period which is published in full in Kenneth Roberts' "March to Quebec".

After the war he relocated from Newburyport MA to Deer Isle circa. 1788 and lived there for a few years, but he returned to Newburyport between 1810 and 1820 and remained there for the remainder of his lifetime.
