    Notes
    • Although his first eight children are recorded as born in Newbury, church records show that he was living in East Kingston, NH, in 1744. He moved to East Gloucester (now Minot), ME before 1774; he was moderator of the first town meeting there, 17 Sep 1774, and was elected selectman. He was a soldier of the Revolution, as was his son James T., their service being credited as from New Gloucester, ME. The town and county records of his Maine residence having been destroyed by fire, it was very difficult to procure the data concerning his descendants, in the male line, except those of his son Nicholas, whose descendants have family records of their lines.

"Simon Noyes of Newbury sold to Joshua Noyes of Newbury, May 7, 1759 for £46, 13 shillings, and 4 pence, the one full half part of upland and marsh 20 acres, bounded southwesterly by East Creek, Northwesterly by the creek, to a bank of rocks, southeast to the rocks, being the 20 acres that was sold to me by Moses Noyes, Jr. and Isaac and Mary Fitts May 9, 1746". "Simon Noyes sold to Mark Haskell land for £53, 6 shillings and 8 pence. Lawfull money Nov. 6, 1760."
