      In April 1926, the Vestry called the Rev. Alaric J. Drew to be the new rector with the provision that he would conduct services the year round. He proved to be a good leader and soon the church attendance was regularly filling up with over 100 worshippers. Discussion about a new facility was revived and a committee met to lay plans for three buildings: a large sanctuary, a parish hall and a rectory. To date, only the parish hall and rectory have been built; the building originally intended to be the parish hall is actually the current sanctuary.

      Ground was broken in late 1926 and on March 20, 1927, Drew preached the first sermon in the Sandhills Parish House, as it was then called. The total cost for the structure was $25,000.

      The Rev. Francis Craighill Brown was called to Emmanuel in December 1930 after the death of A.J. Drew. He had served in the foreign mission field and had a broad and progressive outlook about the efforts of the parish to reach out to the needy.
