- (OBIT: NOKOMIS - Gerold C. House, 81, of Nokomis died at 9:35 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at St. Vincent Hospital in Taylorville.
He was born on April 12, 1927, in Harvel, the son of Clinton E. and Ava Williams House. He married Dona Noyes on July 22, 1947; she preceded him in death on Nov. 27, 2002.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
He is survived by four children, D. Elaine (Paul) Nadler of Pana, Gary (Carol) House of Bath, Terry (Rhonda) House and Suzanne Martin of Arenzville; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
Gerold graduated from the eighth grade. He worked as a farmer and a repairman in coal mines. He served in the Army military police. He was a member of VFW and UMW.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joe Mollett officiating. Burial will be at Mount Zion Cemetery in Nokomis.)
