- (OBIT: Groveland — Elizabeth C. “Betty” (Noyes) Reed, 80, of Groveland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Newburyport, daughter of the late Harry V. Noyes, II and Elizabeth (Currier) Noyes.
Betty was a graduate of Newburyport High School and moved to Groveland in 1955.
From her home, she was the dispatcher for the Groveland Police Department for many years. She was a talented seamstress, making her own clothes.
Along with caring for her 100’s of indoor plants, she also beautified her street corner for over 50 years with her gardens.
She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She cherished time spent with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Edward W. Reed; her two sons, E. Wesley Reed, Jr. and his wife Laurie of Haverhill and Ronald N. Reed and his fiancee Diane Costello of Seabrook, NH; her daughter Debra L. Gaudreau and her husband John Alston of Hampton Falls, NH; 3 sisters: Priscilla and her husband Marshall Price of Newburyport, Raelene Duggan of Wells, ME and Paula Schrempf of Amesbury; five grandchildren: Penny Reed Portalla, Bonnie Reed Rouleau, Lisa Gaudreau, Amy Loews and Shannon Reed; five great-grandchildren: Edmund, Grace Ann, Gabrielle, Ryan and Finley, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late H. Vern Noyes, III.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Funeral Service on Wednesday, May 23rd at 11:00 at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery, Groveland. Calling hours at the Funeral Home will be Tuesday from 5-8 pm.
