Notes |
- Israel was listed as the head of family in the 40-50 age group on the 1840 Census in Dearborn County, Indiana. Included in the household in 1840 were 1 female 30-40, probably his wife Abigail; and 2 females 10-15, probably his daughters Amanda and Lucinda. Israel Jr. is probably also in the 1830 Census (Dearborn Co., p.446) under the name of Isaac. Included in this census were a female 20-30, probably his wife Abigail; 1 female 5-10; and 2 females under 5, probably his daughters Amanda and Lucinda.
In 1843, about 26 years after coming to Manchester, Israel organized the Manchester Universalist Church with James P. Milliken and Gilbert Platt. The church was strictly a layman's church which was not visited by a Universalist minister before that time.
Israel was listed as the head of family on the 1850 Census in Dearborn County, Indiana. he was 51, born in Maine, listed as a farmer with $2000 real estate. Included in the household were his wife Abigail (46, Maine); George W. Morris (31, Ohio son-in-law?); and George Morris' 3 children, Warren W. Morris (10, Indiana), Israel N. Morris (8, Indiana), and Amos G. Morris (4, Indiana).
