    • (OBIT: Limestone and Caribou - Preston G. Thompson, 86, husband of the late Ruth (Harvey) Thompson died October 31, 2005 at Caribou. He was born in Limestone October 13, 1919 the son of Ernest and Lena (Hamilton) Thompson. He served with the US Army during World War II receiving numerous medals and commendations. Mr. Thompson was a well-known self-employed potato grower in Limestone for many years, where he and Ruth were active members of the Limestone United Methodist Church. He was involved with numerous farm groups and organizations during his career. Following his retirement in 1978 he and his wife resided in Cape Elizabeth for a number of years, returning to Presque Isle in 1995 and attended Grant Memorial United Methodist Church.

      He is survived by two sons and daughters in law; Robert and Norma Thompson and Paul and Pamela Thompson all of Caribou. Two daughters and a son in law Claudia and Steven Carvill of Lakeville NB Canada and Diane Wood of Boynton Beach Fl. One sister and brother in law Virginia and Andy Shupak of S. Portland. Eight grandchildren, great grandchildren. Mr. Thompson was predeceased by his wife Ruth in 2002 and by a sister Roberta Stitham. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home 24 Reservoir Street Caribou 12:00 noon Wednesday until time of services.

      Funeral services will be held 1:30 pm Wednesday from the funeral home with Rev. Anna Beach, pastor of Gray Memorial United Methodist Church, officiating. Following the service the family invites everyone to the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church for a time of fellowship and refreshments. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Brooklawn Memorial Park S. Portland.
