An obituary for Mr. Noyes was found in the Watertown newspaper referring to him as a Revolutionary Soldier. The cemetery is located at the intersection of highways 16, 26 and 60.

Bailey Concrete out of Clyman, WI donated time and materials to create the memorial which held the plaque from the State of Wisconsin. They wanted to create something that would hold the plaque so it would be both aesthetically pleasing and prevent vandals from stealing it. This was erected May 28, 2011 10:00 a.m. near where Gershom Noyes' grave marker was presumed to have been.)

    Notes
    • Born in Stoningham, Connecticut. He subsequently moved to Guilford, Vermont. At age 17, Gershom enlisted for a nine-month tour with Captain Blakely's Company of Colonel Fletcher's Regiment of Vermont State Troop. During his tour, Noyes served as an Orderly Sergeant of the Rangers at Fort Ticonderoga and Fort Independence. He earned a pension for his service.

Came to Preston, New York two or three years later than his cousin, John Noyes, who came in 1803 from Stonington, Conn., and settled two miles south-west of Preston Corners, on the place now owned by Thomas Holmes.

He came in the summer season and brought his family, consisting of the companion of his youth, Mary Stanton, and three children, Gashan, Henry and Mercy with an ox sled, wood-shod, drawn by a yoke of three-year old steers. They continued to reside there some fifty years, and removed after eighty years old with his children to Wisconsin, dying there. They raised nine children to a mature age, and saw the third generation. After Mary's death, Noyes moved to Wisconsin in 1845 to live with his son, Samuel. The children born here were Fanny, Polly, Isaac, Samuel and Percy.

Obituaries state that Gershom Noyes died on October 1, 1850, at the age of 86. It is believed that Gershom is buried in his son's plot in the Clyman Center/School #3 Cemetery in Section 20, Town of Clyman, Dodge County. Records show Samuel Noyes once owned the property where the cemetery is located. The location of the old cemetery is near the intersection of Highways 16 and 60 and Highway 26, near Clyman.
