- Abraham and family moved from Bangor to Orono 1790. He built the first frame house in town. He succeeded in its ownership by his son Retire Whittemore Freese, whose home it was for more than 50 yrs. It was on the right bank of the Penobscot river on Bennoch Rd. directly opposite the University of Maine. Abraham married Hannah Whittemore of Salem MA. 6/25/1777. Hannah was the daughter of Edmund Whittemore of Salem MA.
