    Notes
    • Removed from Andover, Mass., 4 Jan. 1768, with his eight sons and four daughters, to Blue Hill, Maine, where he was proprietor of one-half of the township. This was deeded to him by Nicholas Holt, 4 Apr 1764. He was one of the first settlers; built a log house in which he lived several years. The move into the wilderness was undertaken from a desire that his sons should not be stinted for land. For the sake of the children the parents braved the hardships of a new country.
