    Notes
    • I HAVE NO VERIFIED PROOF THAT THIS AMOS WEST IS THE SON OF THOMAS WEST AND DEBORAH FREEMAN, BUT...

So for awhile now many Francis and Margary (Reeves) West family descendants have had a Samuel West, born July 10, 1779, in their family trees. He is the son of Thomas West (1736-1819) and Deborah Freeman. No one disputes that someone existed and was born on this date. The issue is, that no one has ever known what happened to him. There are no census records to attach him to, no marriage or even death records for him. Nothing. Zero. Nada. So awhile ago, as I started my Ontario Canada work (vast family here), I discovered a name that kept popping up. Amos West. And as record after record continued to give forth information, I decided that it was all too coincidental, and that this Amos West was in fact one Samuel West, born 1779 in Massachusetts. Here is what led me to this conclusion: Proximity. Amos West lives near and sometimes next to, those who I'll call, verified West family members. My line of the West family. Circumstance. Amos West is a part of several Wills of verified West or West family related persons. Family. "Samuel" West had a verified (Thomas West Will) daughter named Catherine. Amos also uses the name Howard and Lydia when naming his own children, two names that run deep in the West line. His grandson Hiram has the middle name Horton, which is used by others in my West line. Records. There are countless records that put Amos date of birth right around or in 1779 AND in the U.S.A. or specifically Massachusetts. [Kevin Thomas West]
