    • In the Revolutionary War, Josiah served as a private "fortifying Falmouth" in Capt. James Merrill's company [MS&S 17-553-554], Jonathon Mitchell's Regiment. He also served on the Penobscot Expedition in 1779 in Ezra Bedlam's Company, Loammi Baldwin's Regiment. Upon his death, the "Eastern Argus" reported on 21 Dec 1819 that Josiah left a wife and 11 children [Youngs' Newspapers, p.437].
